2025 Cadillac LYRIQ vs 2025 Mercedes-Benz EQE SUV

There is something special about a great luxury midsize SUV; the way it brings together functionality, refinement, spaciousness, and style is on a level all its own. With that in mind, an all-electric version would take things even further by providing you with enhanced capabilities and a driving experience unlike anything else out there. Choosing the right luxury midsize EV SUV is not necessarily easy, however, because you have a number of impressive options available, so it helps to focus on one or two at a time. Looking at the 2025 Cadillac LYRIQ vs 2025 Mercedes-Benz EQE SUV shows us that while the Mercedes-Benz model has a lot to offer, Cadillac gives you much more to enjoy.

For starters, there is the question of the all-electric powertrains available for these two models; if you are going to choose a luxury EV SUV, then you deserve to have something you will love driving. Although Mercedes-Benz offers more options with the EQE SUV, including two different batteries and both single- and dual-motor configurations, Cadillac does it better. Mercedes-Benz has 90.6- and 96-kWh batteries on offer, which both fall short of the 102-kWh battery that you get with the Cadillac LYRIQ. What’s more, while the standard setup for the EQE SUV offers 288 hp and 302 miles of range, the LYRIQ gives you 365 hp and an incredible 326 miles of range from a full charge, surpassing Mercedes-Benz.

Looking inside these two luxury SUVs, Cadillac gives you a lot more to enjoy when you are on the road each day. For one thing, you have more cargo space inside the LYRIQ than the EQE SUV: nearly 61 cu.ft. of total cargo volume in the Cadillac model compared to 55 cu.ft. of room in the Mercedes-Benz. Not only that, but every LYRIQ comes with Cadillac’s gorgeous 33-inch continuous curved LED screen with 9K resolution; the 12.3-inch multimedia display in the EQE SUV looks downright meager by comparison. Plus, the Cadillac LYRIQ starts at an incredibly tempting price, letting you get a lot more for your money when you choose it over the Mercedes-Benz model.

Performance

Luxury vehicles from Cadillac and Mercedes-Benz are about more than just refined interiors and high-grade materials; their SUVs are well known for also delivering great performance. These are vehicles that you look forward to driving each day, not only because you can practically melt into the seats but also because they handle beautifully on the road. This is just as true with their modern EVs as it is with their traditional gas-powered models, which means it is important to look at the performance and engineering of these models. Although Mercedes-Benz certainly knows how to make a powerful vehicle that is fun to drive, Cadillac gives you superior power and longer range.

The one advantage we can give the EQE SUV in this area is that Mercedes-Benz offers more options for battery and motor setups. That being said, for as many options as they offer, we would expect one of them to have more power than the LYRIQ, but that is not the case. Mercedes-Benz outfits the EQE SUV with either a 90.6-kWh battery or a 96-kWh battery, both of which are quite good but not amazing. The base trim has a single motor, though dual-motor setups are available to enhance performance and acceleration. With its single-motor configuration, the EQE SUV makes 288 hp and 417 lb-ft of torque, with a range estimated at 302 miles from a full charge.

That’s all pretty good, but honestly, we expect a lot more, considering the remarkably high price tag of the EQE SUV (even for a luxury model). Cadillac provides an impressive 102-kWh battery that is more powerful than what Mercedes-Benz offers, as well as options for one or two motors. The base single-motor setup provides 365 hp and 325 lb-ft of torque; that’s much more horsepower, and it gets an estimated 326 miles of range, which is far better. If you want greater performance, then you can choose the dual-motor configuration that gives you 515 hp and 450 lb-ft of torque, which still gets an estimated 319 miles of range. Not only does this surpass the Mercedes-Benz model, but a dual-motor EQE SUV gets an estimated 264 miles of range at best, which is shockingly low.

Technology

We find that our customers can define “luxury” in different ways, though most agree that it largely comes down to the experience when you are inside your vehicle. Interior details play a huge role in this, and you can see that as soon as you look at different Cadillac models like the LYRIQ and the stunning features packed into them. Mercedes-Benz is certainly no stranger to luxury and the EQE SUV has a lot to offer, but we find what you get with the LYRIQ to be more satisfying and refined overall. The features of the EQE SUV simply feel a bit more dated and less innovative than what we like to see.

Looking inside the Mercedes-Benz EQE SUV, we find a well-appointed interior that has some good features throughout. For example, there is a 12.3-inch central multimedia display. This screen looks great and lets Mercedes-Benz drivers control their media and connectivity. Once we look at what Cadillac provides, however, the EQE SUV feels stuck in the past rather than pushing forward with something new and compelling. A 15-speaker Burmester sound system joins the display, and support for wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto is standard, along with a wireless charging pad up front.

Inside the Cadillac LYRIQ, you get a gorgeous 33-inch advanced color LED display that stretches across the front dashboard to provide you with all of the information you need at a stunning 9K resolution. This is what the future of luxury vehicles looks like, giving you an experience that you will not find in the average vehicle. It has Google Built-In with numerous apps (including Google Assistant and Maps) incorporated into the system; you also get a wireless phone charger and much more. The available 19-speaker AKG Studio sound system takes car audio to another level entirely; you can also get GM’s Super Cruise hands-free driving system to fully experience the future of the auto industry.

Value

When we talk about value with these two vehicles, don’t get us wrong: we are not discussing budget options or trying to get something cheap. There is no denying that these are both impressive luxury models that deliver a sophisticated driving experience beyond what you will find with most other vehicles out there. That being said, there are notable price differences between these two models, and what you get for your money is in stark contrast when you look at these luxury EV SUVs.

Even though we have seen that the Mercedes-Benz EQE SUV has a less powerful battery than the Cadillac LYRIQ, with less horsepower and range, it is priced significantly higher than the LYRIQ. The last thing you want is to feel like you are throwing money away or see one of your friends in a vehicle that offers more while also being a smarter investment. The difference in price is significant; you can choose a dual-motor option from Cadillac with excellent performance and greater range than the EQE SUV while still spending much less than the price of a single-motor Mercedes-Benz model.

In fact, you can choose the highest trim level of the Cadillac LYRIQ, with a pair of motors, and still pay less than the entry-level EQE SUV. We can appreciate how pricing reflects the prestige of a vehicle, but at a certain point, a driver is wasting money on something with an inferior experience. Cadillac understands this well: the LYRIQ gives you an incredible drive with stunning and refined interior features, offering you more for your money. That is precisely what you deserve as you shop for a luxury SUV, which is what you get with the LYRIQ.
