About the 2025 Cadillac XT5

Cadillac is considered one of the most luxurious brands—a significant accomplishment since dozens of automotive manufacturers sell in North America. Cadillac has been delivering premium and lavish automobiles for generations and is one of the longest-running automakers. It has been in business for over 120 years, opening its doors in 1902; today, Cadillac is still one of the most respected car brands. Few manufacturers are held in as high regard as luxury-inspired shoppers hold Cadillac.

It’s no coincidence that critics and fans alike describe premium products as the “Cadillac” of their respective markets. Having your brand name be synonymous with class and quality in the cultural mainstream is a rare feat. However, Cadillac proudly boasts its popularity by continuously producing high-end vehicles. The 2025 Cadillac XT5 is a notable highlight because it’s not only one of the most cost-effective SUVs in the brand’s lineup but is one of the most premium models in its segment.

Performance

Power, Handling, and Efficiency

The 2025 Cadillac XT5 has two available engines. Both are paired with a 9-speed automatic transmission. As a result, acceleration feels smooth. A turbocharged 2.0L I-4 engine is standard, creating 235 hp and 258 lb-ft of torque. Upgrading to the 3.6L V6 engine improves performance to 310 hp and 271 lb-ft of torque—a 32% and 5% increase in horsepower and torque, respectively. Thanks to its maximum towing capacity of 3,500 lbs, the V6 engine supports Class II tow hitches. Light towing is possible with the base engine, but the V6 boasts a 250% uptick in its maximum capacity.

The 2025 XT5 supports Front-Wheel Drive (FWD) and All-Wheel Drive (AWD) for both engines. It’s fuel-efficient with either engine or drivetrain, though ratings do differ slightly depending on which powertrain you use. The turbocharged engine with FWD provides the best results, with EPA-estimated ratings of 22 MPG in the city, 29 MPG on the highway, and 24 MPG combined. However, these models can travel around 456 miles on a full gas tank, while using the same engine with AWD offers an estimated 506-mile travel range, regardless of its slightly lower ratings of 21 MPG in the city, 27 MPG on the highway, and 23 MPG combined.

The 3.6L V6 engine is a healthy mix between high-end performance and fuel efficiency. The ratings don’t differ as much between FWD and AWD models with the V6 engine under the hood. For example, FWD models earn 19 MPG in the city, 26 MPG on the highway, and 21 MPG combined. The only difference with AWD models is 18 MPG in the city, as its highway and combined ratings are identical. AWD models with the V6 engine travel an estimated 462 miles on a full tank, and FWD variants travel around 399 miles. The extra mileage you get with an AWD XT5 is because of its 22-gallon fuel tank—16% larger than the 19-gallon fuel tank on FWD XT5s.

Cadillac is a luxury brand; you’ll feel the difference while driving the 2025 XT5. A large part of this is the available Chassis Damping Control. This premium suspension system adjusts its damping as fast as 200 times per second, lending a supremely smooth driving experience. Sometimes, performance isn’t about moving forward but effectively stopping on a dime; you’ll be impressed by the Brembo Performance Front Brakes, which feel smooth and are very stylish, as each caliper is painted red.

The 2025 XT5 has selectable drive modes suited for different road conditions and scenarios. FWD and AWD models both share the Tour and Sport modes, although the latter is slightly different on AWD models. Tour is the default driving mode you’ll use for commuting and everyday life, whereas Sport will give you a more refined driving experience with improved acceleration and handling, but at the cost of a higher fuel consumption rate. Sport automatically enables AWD if that’s your drivetrain of choice, but it’s still best suited for regular road conditions.

A separate AWD drive mode is selectable when the roads are wet or slippery. FWD models have a Snow/Ice mode instead of a dedicated AWD mode. AWD models have an Off-Road mode you’ll select while engaged with dirt, mud, or even fine sediments like sand. The XT5 is a premium and luxurious SUV that’s not afraid to get its hands dirty for adventure’s sake, and it has the performance and high-end features to prove it.

Lush With Tech and Amenities

The 2025 XT5 has one of the best interiors in its class. Cadillac is renowned for its high-end interiors, and many see it as the cream of the crop from which other manufacturers draw inspiration. The 2025 XT5 is no exception. It provides an exceptionally well-crafted cabin with quality materials and some of the best standard features in its class.

The base trim has a standard 8-way power-adjustable driver’s seat and a 6-way power-adjustable front passenger seat. Both the driver and front passenger seats are heated. Seats don’t commonly have power-adjustable controls or heating elements standard, but these are two examples of how Cadillac differs from the rest regarding value across its trims.

Even the entry-level XT5 has a premium 8-speaker Bose audio system—another feature you normally wouldn’t find standard on other vehicles. Cadillac understands that a beautiful soundscape can go a long way in making a car feel nicer than its competitors. The Premium Luxury trim upgrades you to a better audio solution from Bose; this setup has 14 speakers that produce incredible sound quality that’ll transform your favorite songs, making an album you’ve listened to a thousand times sound brand-new again.

Tri-Zone Climate Control is available for your 2025 XT5. You and your front passenger can individually control the temperature of your side of the cabin, and second-row passengers have a choice to do the same. An available Ultraview Sunroof is the perfect inclusion to add significantly more sunlight into your cabin and provide fantastic airflow when opened.

Each 2025 Cadillac XT5 has an infotainment center on a crisp 8-inch touchscreen. This touchscreen is your media hub and access point for various features, like Automatic Parking Assist. If you approach a parking space that’s tricky to maneuver into—like parallel parking—you can select it on your infotainment screen. Your XT5 will fit into the spot effortlessly, like a personal valet.

Connecting your phone to your XT5’s infotainment center allows you access to Apple CarPlay or Android Auto. These are especially helpful now that several years of software updates have been applied. Smartphone connectivity may not be the luxury feature it once was, but features like Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are still helpful and widely popular. However, various Google services are included at no extra cost, as is standard OnStar integration.

OnStar integration means you have on-board navigation and voice commands courtesy of Google. Amazon Alexa is standard for voice commands and integration for Amazon music and other apps. OnStar also has an Automatic Crash Response system to connect you with an emergency representative if a car crash is detected, to check if anyone is injured, and what services should be sent to your location.

Comfortable and Functional Space

The 2025 Cadillac XT5 is a decently-large midsize SUV. It’s not overly long or wide outside, aiding its maneuverability. The steering feels tight and responsive owing to its smaller frame, and fitting into tighter parking spaces is easy, especially with Automatic Parking Assist. The 2025 XT5 is short enough to fit into any parking garage you could fit a compact SUV into, making it ideal for apartment living or condos where parking may be more restrictive. A benefit of its size is the copious interior room for yourself, your passengers, and your cargo. This makes it perfect for driving around town with the family in style.

The 2025 XT5 is 189.6 inches long, 66.1 inches tall, and 74.9 inches wide with folded side mirrors. It also has a 112-inch wheelbase and can be fitted with 20-inch alloy wheels, adding to its impeccable style and versatility. You shouldn’t have trouble fitting the XT5 into your garage or driveway because it fits into tighter spaces than the average full-size SUV.

You’ll enjoy the openness of your 2025 XT5’s cabin while in your comfortable leather driver’s seat. The XT5 can host five passengers, and everyone gets an exceptional seating experience and can enjoy all the amenities. The 2025 XT5 has 37.9 and 41.2 inches of front-row headroom and legroom, respectively. It also has 36.6 inches of rear headroom and 39 inches of rear legroom.

The 2025 XT5’s available cargo space depends on whether you have the second row upright or folded. It provides a generous 30 cu.ft. of space when both rows are up and all five seats are taken. Folding down the second row means you’re reducing your passenger capacity but vastly increasing your cargo space by 110% to 63 cu.ft. Accessing your XT5’s cargo area is easy thanks to the available hands-free power liftgate; simply place your foot under your liftgate, and it’ll open automatically if you have the XT5’s keyfob on you.
